Unlocking Opportunities in Uzbekistan’s Agricultural Sector

The British Uzbek Society hosted a roundtable on Agri-trade at the Embassy of Uzbekistan hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Ravshan Usmanov pictured here

The invited delegates included Rob Grinnall representing UKTAG and UKECP in the promotion of UK livestock and genetics. As is often the case, Rob was the sole representative of the livestock sector with others being involved mainly in the trade of the ancillary sectors such as finance and logistics.

There was significant interest in Rob’s presentation on the sector with connections being made in particular with Lord Waverley who has unbounded interest in supporting trade with the country and region as a whole.

The Uzbek embassy and BUS would like to promote Agro-World an event in Tashkent March 11th – 13th where they would like to welcome UK agri-businesses keen on developing relationships and trade with Uzbekistan and beyond.

If there is interest in the event, they will arrange B2B meetings, field trips and government meetings.

Uzbekistan has agri-tech as a government priority seeing it as a route to growth and productivity, with targeted incentives.  They are looking for food security, development of agri-science and education, with rural development.

BUS meetings with DBT suggested that there is significant finance to support projects.

Details on the event will be circulated via the UKTAG website and database as soon as they have been supplied.
