Chirrup measures and manages biodiversity, in a simple, affordable and farmer friendly way. We do this by monitoring birds, which are the best indicators of wider biodiversity, through the help of our robot ecologist, the Chirrup audio-box.
Our reporting platform – app.chirrup.ai – provides a scientifically valid, standardised measure of biodiversity, which is low cost and easy to use for both farms AND their downstream cooperatives, processors, retailers and regulators.
Chirrup is valuable for the downstream players, as our artificial intelligence algorithm is trained to recognise over 100 species, and provide evidence of the extent of an individual farm’s species richness, and the live populations across a farming region or food supply network. This fits biodiversity reporting requirements under IFRS, for example.
Chirrup is valuable for the farms themselves as state sustainable farming incentives, food supply chain premium payments, and environmental credits are increasingly being linked to biodiversity management.
